How do I know if my Chase alert is real? ›

If you're ever in doubt about the legitimacy of a message that claims to be from Chase, log in to your Chase account online or through the app. If there's an issue with your account, you'll see an alert there.

They do this to trick people into providing their personal or financial information or to get you to send money. Remember: Even if your caller ID says a call or text is from Chase, it could be a scam. When in doubt hang up and call us directly.

Scammers often manipulate caller IDs so that their texts and calls appear to come from Chase. However, Chase Bank (and most other banks) use specific short codes to send fraud alerts and notifications. For example, Chase will only text you from 28107, 36640, or 72166 [*]. The text creates a sense of urgency.

Chase may contact you through an interactive text message if we have reason to believe someone may be attempting to gain access to your banking or credit card account(s). Up to ten (10) messages may be sent per incident. Message and data rates may apply.

While scam calls continue to plague the digital landscape, the 877 area code is a legitimate toll free area code used by reputable businesses and organizations. Companies opt for 877 toll-free numbers to enhance their professional image, simplify customer service, and expand their customer base.

Remember that a genuine bank will never call you out of the blue to ask for your PIN, full password or to move money to another account. If you feel something is suspicious or feel vulnerable, hang up and then call your bank or card issuer on their advertised number to report the fraud.

Why would my bank randomly call me? ›

A scammer contacts you pretending to be someone from your bank. The call may even look like it's coming from your bank because the scammer uses spoofing technology to disguise the number on your caller ID so it appears legitimate.

If you have been sued by Chase Bank, it means that they have taken legal action against you in an attempt to collect a debt that they claim you owe.

Track your dispute in the Account Menu under Account Services. The Dispute Tracker will show you Open and Closed disputes as well as the status.

Disputing a credit card charge does not hurt your credit. However, if the information on your credit report changes because of the dispute, your score may change accordingly. Credit agencies can also note the dispute by placing the “XB” code on your account, which simply means the dispute is under investigation.

Account Alerts: There's no charge from Chase, but message and data rates may apply. Delivery of alerts may be delayed for various reasons, including service outages affecting your phone, wireless or internet provider; technology failures; and system capacity limitations.

A real financial institution won't ask for personal information by text or email. If the alert seems real but you're unsure, call or reach out to the bank through a contact listed on the bank's website, rather than a contact provided by the alert.

You cannot set a travel notification with Chase. Chase doesn't give the option to set a travel notice because they trust their fraud detection capabilities to recognize suspicious activity and protect your account while you are travelling.
